Library

ACE Library established in the year August 2010, has been an integral part of academic endeavour in the college. The objective of the College library is to develop a comprehensive collection of documents useful for researchers, the faculty and the student community. The library has to its credit more than 7000 volumes in various branches of Engineering and Sciences. There are also plenty of volumes dealing with Social Sciences and Literature. Reputed National and International Journals are also subscribed to provide latest information on the various subjects of study. A good collection of around 600 CD-ROMs are maintained as part of the digital library and a good number of Online Journals can be accessed through ASTM Digital Library Online and IEEE. The Central Library is complement with different department libraries which contain the core collection required by the concerned department. The library is kept open from 8.30am to 6.00pm on working days and is also made available to students during public holidays. The entire library block is well equipped with proper lighting and seating arrangements so that an excellent ambience is created for the readers to utilize the library facilities.

Library Computerization- The Central Library has been fully automated with Book Magic Library software package which is an integrated multi-user library management system. Online Book Magic library is connected to LAN, which enables the members to check the status of books in the library from anywhere in the campus. Open the Browser and type URL http://server2/onlinebookmagic/ for accessing the Online Book Magic.

Bar Code-based Circulation System- Bar code facility has been introduced for easy access of all library services like Circulation, Acquisition, Cataloguing and OPAC. The Online Book Magic facilitates easy usage and access of the Central Library details from anywhere in the campus. Smart cards are used for library transactions (Check in / Checkout and Issue / Return / Renewal).
Library rules and regulations: -

1. Timings: As per the timings specified by the Institute from time to time. 

2. Eligibility: ACE library is primarily meant for the faculty, full time students of all the courses, administrative staff, visiting faculty and research scholars. Non members can be permitted to consult library for reading purpose only with the permission of the Principal.

3. If a member loses his/ her Identity card, he/she shall make a written report to the librarian; he/she can get the first duplicate card on payment of Rs. 250/-. Subsequent duplicate cards can be obtained by paying Rs. 300/-. 

4. Borrower shall be responsible for safe return of the books to the library. Borrowers must satisfy themselves about the physical condition of the books before borrowing, otherwise they shall be held responsible for the damage noticed at the time of returning. 

5. Library is a place of reading. All users of the library are required to follow the instructions of the library staff at all times and maintain an environment conducive to reading.

6. Stealing or damaging the property of library or misbehavior with library staff shall be considered an act of indiscipline, which will call for strict disciplinary action. 

7. Visitors are not permitted in the library without the permission of the librarian. 

8. Personal books and magazines, files, boxes and such other items are prohibited inside the library and the same are to be kept at the property counter. 

9. All students are advised to get their material possessions checked by the person sitting at the entry gate.

10. For consulting any reference book or magazine, students are required to submit their Identity Card to the person at the circulation counter. If the student does not have his/her Identity Card, the above mentioned study material will not be issued to the student. 

11. Eatables, drinks and mobile phones are strictly prohibited inside the library.

Circulation rules-

a. Borrowing facility is given only to the members of the library. Books may be borrowed only against the Identity Card issued to individuals. Borrowing will be done only through the circulation counter, after the member produces his/her own ID card to the person at the counter. The cards are non-transferable.

b. All students can borrow three books against his/her membership cards.

c. The holder of the card is responsible for any book issued against that card as per the library records. 

d. All the members will produce their identity card on the counter at the time of issue and return of books. 

e. Students will not be allowed to take the newspapers outside the library. 

f. Periodicals fall under 'not-to-be-issued category'; students can get photocopy of the required article from the photocopying machine in the library on payment. 

g. The duration of borrowing for students will be as follows:- 

Text Books : 15 days
Reference Books : Not to be issued
General Book/Fiction : 15 days 

h. Under special circumstances, the journals may be issued to the students for one day only. 

i. New arrivals of books will be listed on the notice board and will be displayed in a separate shelf meant for new arrivals. These will be available for borrowing subsequently. 

j. For renew, it is necessary to present the book at the counter. Renew is not automatic. If there is a pending demand for the book, the request for renew may be turned down by the librarian. 

k. During the examinations, books and publications issued for a period of fifteen days will not be re-issued even if there is no demand for the said books. 

l. The librarian can call for books and publications any time, if the need arises. 

m. If a book is not returned in the stipulated time, as given in Point 3.7 above, the member will be charged a penalty of Rs. 1/- per day per volume for the first week and Rs. 5/- per day thereafter. The penalty for not returning the journals next day will invite a fine of Rs. 5/- per day. The fine should be paid in the Library and a valid receipt should be obtained by the student. Students will be debarred from using the library facilities unless the fine has been paid for. 

n. The librarian can refuse to issue books to those possessing overdue books. 

o. If a member loses a book against his/her card, the penalty will be as follows: He/she will have to replace the lost book. In addition, he/she will have to pay the entire fine as due. If the relevant book is not easily available in the market, then the loser would pay double the current cost of the book.

Reprographic centre- The reprographic centre is attached with the Central Library. Users can take the photocopies of the reference books and journals from this section.

Research and Reference Services- A separate section is maintained for reference .Costly and multiple copied books are available in this section.

DIGITAL LIBRARY-
The Ammini Digital library has been established in Central Library premises with effective online databases, e-journals, e-books etc. It has got a rich collection of over 600 educational CDs which covers varied technology aspects in all related disciplines and in turn fine tunes the engineering concepts in students. The digital library enables the students to collect information from internet and other reliable sources. This facility can be accessed only during institutional working hours from anywhere in the campus. The library has also subscribed to e-resources through the ASTM Digital Library Online, IEEE, and J gate. The existing digital library is supported with 12 PCs with hi-speed Internet connectivity.
