LIBRARY & INFORMATION CENTRE


General Rules

  1. Membership: ACE library is primarily meant for the faculty, full time students of all the courses, administrative staff, visiting faculty and research scholars. Non members can be permitted to consult library for reading purpose only with the permission of the Principal.

  2. If a member loses his/ her Identity card, he/she shall make a written report to the librarian; he/she can get the first duplicate card on payment of Rs. 250/-. Subsequent duplicate cards can be obtained by paying Rs. 300/-.

  3. Borrower shall be responsible for safe return of the books to the library. Borrowers must satisfy themselves about the physical condition of the books before borrowing, otherwise they shall be held responsible for the damage noticed at the time of returning.

  4. Library is a place of reading. All users of the library are required to follow the instructions of the library staff at all times and maintain an environment conducive to reading.

  5. Stealing or damaging the property of library or misbehavior with library staff shall be considered an act of indiscipline, which will call for strict disciplinary action.

  6. Visitors are not permitted in the library without the permission of the librarian.

  7. Personal books and magazines, files, boxes and such other items are prohibited inside the library and the same are to be kept at the property counter.

  8. All students are advised to get their material possessions checked by the person sitting at the entry gate.

  9. For consulting any reference book or magazine, students are required to submit their Identity Card to the person at the circulation counter. If the student does not have his/her Identity Card, the above mentioned study material will not be issued to the student.

  10. Eatables, drinks and mobile phones are strictly prohibited inside the library.

 

Circulation Rules

  

  1. Borrowing facility is given only to the members of the library. Books may be borrowed only against the Identity Card issued to individuals. Borrowing will be done only through the circulation counter, after the member produces his/her own ID card to the person at the counter. The cards are non-transferable.

  2. All students can borrow three books against his/her membership cards.

  3. The holder of the card is responsible for any book issued against that card as per the library records.

  4. All the members will produce their identity card on the counter at the time of issue and return of books.

  5. Students will not be allowed to take the newspapers outside the library.

  6. Periodicals fall under 'not-to-be-issued category'; students can get photocopy of the required article from the photocopying machine in the library on payment.

  7. The duration of borrowing for students will be as follows:-

                 Text Books                             : 15 days

                 Reference Books                   : Not to be issued

                 General Book/Fiction           : 15 days

  1. Under special circumstances, the journals may be issued to the students for one day only.

  2. New arrivals of books will be listed on the notice board and will be displayed in a separate shelf meant for new arrivals. These will be available for borrowing subsequently.

  3. For renew, it is necessary to present the book at the counter. Renew is not automatic. If there is a pending demand for the book, the request for renew may be turned down by the librarian.

  4. During the examinations, books and publications issued for a period of fifteen days will not be re-issued even if there is no demand for the said books.

  5. The librarian can call for books and publications any time, if the need arises.

  6. If a book is not returned in the stipulated time, as given in Point 3.7 above, the member will be charged a penalty of Rs. 1/- per day per volume for the first week and Rs. 5/- per day thereafter. The penalty for not returning the journals next day will invite a fine of Rs. 5/- per day. The fine should be paid in the Library and a valid receipt should be obtained by the student. Students will be debarred from using the library facilities unless the fine has been paid for.

  7. The librarian can refuse to issue books to those possessing overdue books.

  8. If a member loses a book against his/her card, the penalty will be as follows: He/she will have to replace the lost book. In addition, he/she will have to pay the entire fine as due. If the relevant book is not easily available in the market, then the loser would pay double the current cost of the book
